Winter Sports at AVMS

by AnnaGrace Perry There were three winter sports during the winter season at Apple Valley and they were boys basketball, girls basketball, and wrestling. The coach for girls’ basketball was Mr.McGuire. Mr. McGuire states that there were a lot of lead players this past season such as Lexie Gunter, Natalie Smith, and Kaylee Jones. They won two games and lost ten games. The toughest team they faced was Polk Middle School. The greatest match was Brevard Middle School even though they lost, and it was the last game they played. The Tragedy of Whooping Cough

By: AnnaGrace Perry Whooping cough has another name called pertussis.  A whooping  ough is an infection in the respiratory system caused by the bacterium Bordetella.  It will affect kids younger than six months old who aren’t yet protected by immunizations.  Kids that are eleven to eighteen years old whose immunity has started to fade.   Whooping cough kills about 9000 people in the United States each year.  In 2012, the number of whooping cough cases has gone up to almost 50,000, the highest level since the 1950s.  Some of the symptoms of whooping cough are a runny nose, sneezing, mild cough, and low-grade fever. … Continue reading The Tragedy of Whooping Cough

Knight’s Soccer Season

Which soccer team in Henderson County was undefeated this season? That’s right! Our very own AVMS Knights soccer team! With the help of great coaches and very supportive players, our team had 14 wins and 0 losses. The soccer team is a mix of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that support each other and train hard every week. The team motto is “ Always play like a champion, work hard, and be undefeated.” Our soccer team has worked as hard as they could! There’s much entertainment and pleasure that is included in the activities.             Anime is a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at the majority of adults but including children as well. Net Neutrality: Why It Matters

By: Jakob Olsen On November 21, 2017, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a plan to repeal Net Neutrality. Net Neutrality is a law that limits what an Internet Service Provider (ISP) can charge you. This means that your ISP cannot charge you for watching Netflix instead of their TV streaming service. If Net Neutrality is repealed, the Federal Government will no longer control what ISP’s can charge for user their internet.
